Can I choose a song not on your repertoire list?

Yes! Every Virginia James Music package includes at least one custom song not in our repertiore! Be sure to ask us about any other music you make like to have. We may know it even though its not on our list. We can learn just about anything so feel free to inquire!

Can my song be played instrumentally?

Yes! Virtually any song can be made instrumental!

How many songs do I need for Prelude?

Every Virginia James Music package includes up to a half and hour of prelude music! Anywhere between 8 to 10 selections will be more than enough. Also, with all the details you are wrestling with feel free to let us choose appropriate music for the big day. Reading and creating the perfect mood for your celebration is what we do!

How many songs do I need for the ceremony? For the bridal party and bride?

The overwhelming majority of wedding ceremonies include some kind of prelude, bridal party processional, bridal processional, and recessional music. Often our couples consider several songs for the bridal party group. Although this can work for large parties and longer walks, in our experience we have found that one song for the bridal party and one for the bride make for cleaner, more seamless transitions. This also allows more of the chosen song to be heard. Especially since the walk is often shorter than anticipated!

Why should I use the included lapel miking?

Our lapel miking offering is the most comfortable and discreet way to amplify your ceremony so that all guests may hear every word without bulky body packs or having an obtrusive handheld mic on a stand showing up in all of your pictures and video! Best of all the mics go on the groom and officiant while still picking up the bride which means no messing with the dress!

Why are multiple sound system setups required?

We setup a full system at each site at your venue (ceremony site, cocktail site, reception area etc.). This allows for a smooth and seamless transition from one area to the next. We can start playing again with no gap in the music and no moving of bulky gear during your big day! We arrive anywhere from 1.5 to 3 hours before guest arrive to setup and sound check to ensure the music is already playing when the first guests arrive!

How far in advance should we book?

We recommend booking as early as possible—typically 6 to 12 months in advance for weddings and major events. However, if your date is sooner, reach out! We’re happy to accommodate last-minute bookings when our schedule allows.

What’s required to reserve our date?

A signed agreement and a 50% retainer secure your date. The remaining balance is due closer to the event. Once you book, we’re fully committed to your day and begin coordinating the musical details right away.

Can we meet or chat before booking?

Absolutely! We offer complimentary consultations via phone or video call to ensure we’re the perfect fit for your celebration.

Are you insured?

Yes, we are fully insured and can provide a Certificate of Insurance (COI) with added insureds to your venue upon request.
